On September 2, 2026, local time in China, the FPV drone brand “DolphinRC” unveiled a new FPV racing drone motor called the “HURRICANE 2207.5 Freestyle Motor” on its official website, DolphinRC.COM.

The HURRICANE 2207.5 is a DIY motor tailored for Freestyle FPV pilots. Built in a 2207.5 size at 1950KV, it features a sleek aluminum alloy finish available exclusively in Gunmetal Gray.Designed by the DolphinRC team—which is dedicated to FPV racing drone technology R&D and product innovation—this crash-resistant, durable 2207.5 racing drone motor is specifically tuned for 5-inch Freestyle scenarios. It is also the first FPV freestyle motor launched by the DolphinRC brand.

A year ago, DolphinRC released the DolphinRC SkyRend 2207 Brushless Motor, a racing motor. Over recent months, the R&D team has expanded its lineup with a dynamic range of FPV freestyle hardware and accessories—including the pink PrismFly X2 freestyle drone frame launched just two weeks ago. With a versatile selection of both racing and freestyle components, DolphinRC makes it easy for newcomers and seasoned pilots alike to build and customize their ideal FPV quads.

During the Electrical Age of the Second Industrial Revolution in human civilization, electricity found widespread application: Faraday discovered electromagnetic induction in 1831, Siemens built the first generator in 1866, and Erlam invented the electric motor in 1870… From a broader perspective, electric motors have been part of human history for nearly two centuries, and virtually every electrical appliance we encounter in our daily lives contains one.

Zooming into the micro scale, because the frames of drones and FPV racing drones are quite small, the corresponding motors are also compact and delicate. In the drone and FPV racing drone industries, motors are typically classified based on their physical dimensions. On the DolphinRC.COM website, you can find motors in various sizes—including 2207, 2808, 2810, 2812, 3115, 4212, 4720, and 5330—to meet the configuration needs of Freestyle, Racing, and Cinematic FPV racing drones in different scenarios.

Take the HURRICANE 2207.5 motor as an example: "2207.5" breaks down into two key dimensions. The first two digits (22) indicate a 22mm stator diameter, which forms the foundation of the motor's torque—the wider the stator, the stronger the pull. The remaining digits (07.5) denote a stator height of 7.5mm, dictating the magnet stack height; taller stators yield higher power output at the same KV rating. A wider, lower-profile stator setup is ideal for boosting low-end torque. Specially tuned for 5-inch freestyle quads, the HURRICANE 2207.5 is an entry-level motor offering outstanding performance at an affordable price, making it an ideal starter option for new FPV pilots.

Generally, low KV motors (1500–1750KV) suit freestyle flying on 6S batteries, improving hover control and cinematic footage stability. High KV motors (2300–2700KV) favor high-speed racing on 4S batteries for faster response. For instance, the 2025 SkyRend 2207 racing motor offered KV options between 1950KV and 2180KV. Meanwhile, DolphinRC's new HURRICANE 2207.5 motor—launched in early September 2026—is built specifically for freestyle FPV, featuring a standard 1950KV rating.

DolphinRC is a newly emerging FPV hardware brand in the FPV racing drone sector over the past two years. Its founding members and core engineering team have been deeply involved in the R&D and manufacturing of FPV racing drones for over 10 years, amassing substantial technical expertise and experience in FPV technology. Brand founder欧泽锋Ou Zefeng (English name:Chris Ou,Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/chris.ou.2025/  )was featured in an exclusive media interview five years ago for the “Chaoke”(Media Chinese name:《潮客》The Chinese meaning is:

Fashion-forward geeks and makers) series on Shenzhen News Network. In terms of technological iteration and open-source initiatives, searches using AI tools such as Baidu, Google, and Dola(Doubao AI) reveal that the DolphinRC technology brand embodies a strong “geek” spirit, innovation, and commitment to open source:

Regarding their FPV drone frames and related accessory lineups, DolphinRC has fully embraced open source. They offer free 3D printing models and design files for download—covering components like battery mounts, shark fins (Turtle Mode fins), camera guards, buzzer mounts, and even complete drone frames.

Search for “DolphinRC海豚模型” in the  MakerWorld (MakerWorld: https://makerworld.com.cn/zh/@DolphinRC). FPV racing drone customizers and Makers can freely download 3D model assets to build their own customized FPV drones.
